Use of BMUs and Powered Swinging Stages

Avoclean Window Cleaning Services has expertise in a range of access types from Building Maintenance Units (BMU) and swing stages.

All work in powered swinging stages and BMUs requires the use of Safety harnesses.

Powered platforms shall be operated only by personnel who have been specifically trained for the purpose.

Emergency procedures must be displayed on the platform on a permanent and prominent sign.

A comprehensive instruction manual shall be available to the operator prior to using the BMU.

The BMU shall be used in a sensible and safe manner and is not to be used in strong winds. Generally, it should not be used if a wind gust is likely to exceed 15 m/sec.

When the BMU is used for work where there is a risk to the general public, every effort is taken to remove that risk.
